Habitat

4 bedrooms • 2 bathrooms • 2,200 total sq. ft.

This is NOT our typical Habitat house. Union College donated the property and provided lots of support. Students and staff supplied labor, lunches and occasional equipment for special needs. Early in the project there were so many difficult challenges that demolition was considered. Without the help of the Conservation Energy Group, Building Performance Consulting and Twinsulation we would never have achieved the Energy Star rating.

Habitat

Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County is on the way to achieve the goal of building 25 houses in 5 years. By the end of 2008 we will be working on house number 11. Habitat sells houses at no profit and provides 30 year, zero percent mortgages to qualified buyers who succeed in reaching their sweat equity goals. Our volunteers combine skill and enthusiasm to help low-income families have decent affordable housing.
